For Fleming College Practical Nursing graduate Chad Peterson, Class of 2018, providing compassionate care and making a difference in the lives of older adults has been at the heart of his nursing career. That commitment was recently recognized with the 2026 WeRPN Award of Excellence in Care of Older Ontarians, presented on October 29 at WeRPN’s Annual General Meeting and awards ceremony.

Chad has spent the past five years working as a community nurse with SE Health in Kawartha Lakes, supporting individuals in their homes. He is also the owner and founder of Inspired Care Nursing, where he provides foot care and wellness visits to people in Kawartha Lakes and surrounding communities.

Being nominated for the award by a colleague at SE Health made the recognition particularly meaningful. For Chad, caring for older adults means ensuring every person is treated with dignity, compassion and respect, especially during vulnerable moments in their lives.

In his acceptance remarks, Chad reflected on the impact nurses make every day, emphasizing that every nurse deserves to be recognized for the difference they make in the lives of others.

His journey is a wonderful example of how a Fleming education can provide the foundation for a meaningful career, with opportunities to make a difference both within the healthcare system and through community-based services.

Congratulations to Chad on this well-deserved recognition!
