The Board of Governors of Sir Sandford Fleming College has awarded a four-year term extension to President Tony Tilly.  The renewed contract extends his term to June 2018.

“We are very pleased to grant this contract extension to Dr. Tilly,” stated Board Chair Peter McLean. “Under Tony’s leadership, the college has grown and changed substantially, culminating this year in record enrolment for the college and the construction of the Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre.”

Dr. Tilly started with Fleming College in August of 2004. During his tenure, substantial transformations have been completed at all campuses, allowing for expanded capacity and an enhanced student experience. Highlights include:

– Growth in enrolment to a record level for the current fiscal year;

– The launch of innovative educational programs with a focus on environmental and natural resource sciences, in addition to the creation of other unique programs, pathways, access opportunities and partnerships;

– Consistent, sustainable management of the college’s $98M budget, resulting in annual balanced or surplus budgets and a strong level of financial reserves;

– Significant expansions and renovations at the Sutherland Campus in Peterborough and the Frost Campus in the City of Kawartha Lakes;

– Renewed food services across all campuses;

– Securing funding for and overseeing development of the Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre, an 87,000 sq. ft. facility opening in fall 2014;

– The completion of world-class sporting facilities in Peterborough through a partnership with the City of Peterborough, the Peterborough Youth Soccer Club, and the Fleming College Student Administrative Council;

– Development of world-class applied research capabilities in water and wastewater treatment.

“I am truly excited about the future of Fleming College and welcome the opportunity to continue to create great opportunities for students, to work with a talented and dedicated team of employees and to collaborate with so many wonderful partners in our communities,” stated Dr. Tilly.

Mr. McLean added, “This extension recognizes the leadership and skills that Dr. Tilly has demonstrated in continuing to build Fleming College into a leading educational institution in Ontario.”

Located in the heart of Central Ontario, Fleming College has campus locations in Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg and Haliburton.
