Published

Celebrating the work of non-profit organizations and recognizing the remarkable outcomes that are possible through giving, volunteering, and social engagement are the goals of National Philanthropy Day.

To commemorate the many philanthropic contributions that positively affect all aspects of our lives, Fleming College will host A National Philanthropy Day Celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The event will feature keynote speaker Betsy McGregor who will present The Unexpected Rewards of Philanthropy – One Family’s Story. McGregor, who has had an exciting career in federal public policy, is also involved in many volunteer activities. As part of a family that has held service to others in high priority, McGregor has discovered unexpected rewards that have enriched the life of her family and herself.

As well, former Fleming College President Brian Desbiens will present Linda Slavin with the 2013 Brian L. Desbiens Community Service Award at the event.

A National Philanthropy Day Celebration will take place at 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 in the Dining Hall at the Sutherland Campus, 599 Brealey Dr. The event is open to the public. To attend, please contact 705-749-5530 ext. 1664 or arla.whalen@flemingcollege.ca.
