Call for Applied Projects

Published

Peterborough ON (May 10, 2022) – Take on that project!

Do you or your organization have an innovative opportunity or project you want to take on, but just don’t have the resources to do it? Through Applied Projects, your friends and colleagues at Fleming College can help.

This is a call for applied projects sponsors. We’re looking for organizations in all areas of the private and public sector. These projects should engage senior business and technology students with creative problem-solving skills to develop and implement innovative solutions.

Students are guided by seasoned faculty and mentors who are ready to partner with your organization. Working in groups of three or four as an autonomous project team, students will develop a business or technology solution that meets the sponsor’s requirements. Sponsoring a student team can add value to your products and services and provides an excellent learning experience for Fleming students.

Past applied projects include business strategy, marketing, social media, process improvement, apps linked to various mechanical/electrical devices, sensory networks, inventory RFID and VOIP systems, virtualization and cloud solutions, and web presence and optimization.

Sponsor opportunities are available in the following programs: Business Administration, Global Business Management and Wireless Information Networking, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Security & Investigations (CSI) and Mechatronics.

You can register as an applied projects sponsor and specify the scope of work by filling out this application.

Projects submitted by June 10, 2022, will be considered first. If selected, your project will be assigned to a team of students as their capstone Applied Project.

There is no monetary cost to the sponsor, however there is a time commitment between student groups and the sponsor to ensure clarity of project deliverables.
