Currently works as: I am the Senior Director of Global Business Development at TaylorMade adidas Golf, the largest Golf OEM globally, and am based at their global headquarters in Carlsbad, California. We are owned by adidas in Germany, and manufacture and sell golf equipment, apparel and footwear. I coordinate, direct and supervise the TaylorMade Performance Lab and Consumer Trial Teams globally. A large part of my role focuses on developing long and short-term plans and strategies for these two large company initiatives, but I also develop creative concepts and innovations that enable our consumer to have an enjoyable, informative and positive experience with our brands.
Did your diploma help you land this job? ABSOLUTELY. I graduated in 1994 and started my career immediately in the golf business in Toronto. I have recommended this program many times over my 18 year career after graduating-- it's a great education with a unique way of specializing in a specific field. It prepares graduates for the real world, and more specifically, the sporting goods business field. The networking that was available to us, placements, as well as the assignments focused around product, marketing and business strategies, has been valuable for me in the different roles I have had.
Why did you choose to study at Fleming College? I was working for my family business in Trenton, Ont., and I met a lot of sales reps that would come in, and it was the adidas rep that informed me of the program at Fleming College. Fleming offers a wide array of necessary curriculum for the business world, and does a nice job of specializing in the sporting goods field. The teachers have a keen interest in the sporting goods field and show passion in the way they teach; they get involved with companies, and help their students both at school and after they graduate. Fleming was an amazing two years that I am thankful for because it is the reason I am where I am today in my career and field.
