Transgender Endowed Academic Bursary

This endowed Fund was originally established in 2012 by faculty member Dr. Kean Savard (EdD, MSc) to support Fleming students with financial assistance. The highlight of Savard’s career entailed working at Fleming, first in the capacity of Forest Technician (1991-1992), then as a SENRS Professor (1994-2012), and Coordinator of Ecosystem Management and Law Enforcement Programs (1995-2006). Savard retired from Fleming in 2012 to become Vice President of Academics at the Canadian University of Dubai (UAE). He concurrently served as part-time professor at Trent University, Interim Vice President at the Metis Federation of Canada, and is a transpatient-researcher & collaborator at McMaster University, focusing on medical procedure(s) effectuated on transgender people.

Awarded to a full or part-time student from any program, who demonstrates financial need and is in good academic standing. Student must identify as transgender (including transwoman, transman, two-spirited, non-binary, or other non-cis gender typology).

Registered students with an active timetable are able to apply for all bursaries that are administered by the college though our single on-line bursary application.

By completing this application, you will be considered for all college-administered bursaries and scholarships for which you are eligible. To apply, log into myCampus (the student portal), and go to the Student Centre section. The Apply Now! button will open the on-line application as long as you have a valid SIN on file. If you do not have a valid SIN on file, you are required to provide proof of SIN (any government issued document with your name and SIN) and government issued photo-id at the Registrar's Office so your record may be updated. Please note that bursary applications will not be evaluated until after the application deadline date.
