A lifetime in the CYC field
I am delighted to be part of the CYC program at Fleming and to help prepare students for such a fascinating and important career. I have proudly been in the CYC field for almost four decades, having worked in a range of areas: residential treatment, day treatment, psychiatric hospital, and many years for a school board in the GTA. I continue to be impressed by the caliber of Fleming CYC students and believe they will make great contributions to this work.
I am a life-long learner, an avid reader, animal lover, sometime artist, mom and grandma. While continuing in my career, I have gone on to complete my BA in Psychology and an MA in Counselling and am now in the process of registering as a Psychotherapist, intending to do private practice. I am also taking a Culinary Arts course one morning a week, just for the pleasure of it.
My areas of specialized knowledge in the CYC field include counselling, developmental psychology, teaching social and life skills, using art as a therapeutic tool, and working with kids living with the challenge of autism.
