Welcome to Writing

Course Code: ARTS2671

You have a distinctive voice. The words you choose, the audience you select, the points of view you communicate; all these skills make the difference between essays and stories that gather dust on the shelf and the ones that get published. Now is the time to develop an authentic personal writing practice that will help you share your thinking in a way that makes readers pay attention. Express joy, frustration, passion, anger, and grief. Don't waste another second worrying about your literacy level. If you can talk, you can write. This course is for anyone with ideas that deserve to be in print. You will be writing letters to the editor, your lover, your boss and that kid who punched you in grade four. You will be a poet, an essayist, a short story writer and a playwright. You will sleep better at night, getting all those thoughts out of your head and onto paper. It's meaningful work. Welcome to writing!
