Celebrating the contributions of past Fleming College Foundation Board members

Published

Past volunteers and Fleming College Foundation Board members gathered for a recognition event at the Sutherland Campus on April 12.

In a brief ceremony, Fleming College President Tony Tilly and Chief Advancement Officer Shirlanne Pawley-Boyd thanked past volunteer Board presidents and Board members for their dedication and leadership of the Fleming College Foundation.

President Tilly presented volunteers with a dedication plaque, which details the significant contributions they have made over the years. The plaque will be installed adjacent to the Donor Wall in the Brian L. Desbiens Technology Wing at the Sutherland Campus.

Formally established in 1977, Fleming College Foundation actively began fundraising in support of student financial assistance and college capital needs in 1994. Since then, over $5 million has been invested into endowed funds for student bursaries and $9.2 million has been raised in support of four separate capital projects across Fleming College’s four campuses.

As of April 1, 2011 the college has adopted a new model of governance. This new model will allow Fleming staff to more efficiently carry out fundraising activities at Fleming College. Fleming College Foundation has transitioned into a fully integrated department of the college, now known as Advancement and Alumni Relations.

Today’s celebration was scheduled to coincide with National Volunteer Week (NVW).  NWV is a national campaign, which runs from April 10-16 and is designed to highlight the contributions of volunteers in our society.
