Waste Awareness Week at Frost Campus

The Frost Sustainable Campus Initiative (FSCI) is hosting Waste Awareness Week at the Frost Campus of Fleming College, February 2-6.Through Waste Awareness Week the FSCI – a student-led initiative with a goal of achieving measurable targets of sustainability on campus – will educate staff and fellow students on waste reduction techniques and will seek feedback on how the campus could improve its recycling system. The students are also seeking the implementation of reusable food-ware on campus. Activities through the week include:Tuesday, February 3• Kick-off event – premiere of “Garbage Warrior” at 5 p.m. in room 280• Waste Police Blitz – helping students to recycle properly (all day)Thursday, February 5 (all events 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)• Anti-Styrofoam – Pro-Reusable Display in the cafeteria• Recycling Race competition with prizes in the cafeteria• 3 R’s display with prizes in the bookstore corridor (first floor)• Worm composting sales and info booth by the Earth Workers in bookstore corridor• Win a worm composter at the Frost Sustainable Campus Initiative officeDonations from Cadbury Canada, Burns Bulk Food, the Frost Campus Bookstore, and the City of Kawartha Lakes.     – 30 -For more information:     Tim Sullivan, Frost Sustainable Campus Initiative, timsulli@flemingc.on.ca (705) 879-7376
