mattFleming College graduate Matt Fair wanted to use his skills and interests to grow a career that suits him. After graduating from Fleming’s Business program in 2012, Matt decided to combine his business interests with his people skills and enrolled in the Business Administration – Human Resources Management program.

“I have always been a people person and I was interested in business. I thought why not apply what I’m good at and what I like to do at one job? It turned out to be a great fit for me,” said Matt, who graduated from the Business Administration – Human Resources Management program in 2015.

Matt said he “100%” recommends Fleming College to others. “The professors are easy to talk to and get along with. If you’re not understanding something, they will take the time to help you and provide guidance if needed,” he said. Matt added that his college experience was great, that he met so many different people and learned a lot about himself.

The Fleming College graduate now works as the Operations Coordinator at Inclusive Advisory, an accounting, law, and wealth management firm. His responsibilities include: special projects and event management, creating and maintaining employee files, office productivity and financial responsibility, dealing with employee conflicts, accounts receivables, e-filing tax returns, writing job descriptions and policies, and more.

Matt said he believes his Fleming education helped him as a candidate for this position. “Inclusive Advisory has hired Fleming graduates before, to which those previous hires have achieved great success– so Fleming must be doing something right,” he said.

“The education that I received at Fleming in the HR program really did a great job at preparing me for ‘real world’ scenarios,” said Matt. “I believe that my Fleming education has prepared me for this position, because I was able to attain the building blocks of human resources at Fleming. The program provides you with basic knowledge and understandings of HR, so when you receive on-the-job training, it all makes sense.”
