Course Code: EDUC057
Caregivers of young children need to understand and be able to implement a variety of skills and techniques that will help the child gain control of his/her environment and self. The adult's ability to guide children's behaviour effectively and to teach children to self-regulate their own behaviour will have a profound impact on all aspects of their development - physical, psychosocial and cognitive. Guidance of the young child is a course that explores styles of care giving, discipline and the impact of the physical environment on the child's development and behaviour. The course reviews a number of theoretical approaches and guidance models.
