New Fish Hatchery at Frost Campus Takes Shape

Published

Lindsay, ON (June 22, 2023) – Fleming College is proud to present the Centre for Innovative Aquaculture Program (CIAP), a new $6.6 million aquaculture research facility that is currently under construction at our Frost Campus.

Once complete, the new CIAP facility will provide a highly modular and customizable rearing space for multiple cold, cool, and warm water species, including freshwater, marine and brackish environments.

With the capacity to operate three individual recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) with separate and unique rearing conditions, Fleming College will have a unique opportunity to offer our industry partners a diverse suite of simultaneous research project options.

This state-of-the-art facility holds significant promise not just for our College, but for the entire aquaculture industry. By fostering innovation through research and development, we are positioning ourselves at the forefront of sustainable aquaculture practices. This step signals our commitment to advancing knowledge in this field, nurturing experts equipped with the skills and understanding necessary to steer the industry toward a more sustainable, efficient, and productive future.
