Published

Haliburton, ON – July 27, 2012 – Please join us on Thursday, August 9, 2012 for the Annual Haliburton School of The Arts (HSTA) Faculty Art Auction.

The auction will be held at the Fleming College campus, which is located on 297 College Drive in Haliburton. Admission is free and open to the public. A preview of the items will begin at 5 p.m. with the live auction beginning at 7 p.m. A number of silent auction items will also be available.

There will be many unique works of art, all created and generously donated by artists that are (or who have been) members of the faculty at the Haliburton School of The Arts. In the past, pieces have been donated by artists including Rod Prouse, Njacko Backo, Barb Peel, Wendy Bateman, Sophia Tink, Rick Fines, Sandy Cline and Ross Monk, among others.

All proceeds from the Art Auction are directed to bursaries and scholarships for students attending arts programs at the Haliburton campus. Bryce Peterson, who is a graduate of the Glassblowing and Artist Blacksmith programs, said, “As a recipient of the Haliburton Friends of Fleming Scholarship, I was able to further my education in the arts and explore my medium. I am enormously grateful for the help given to me by the ‘Friends,’ which has been critical to pursuing my career in arts education.”

Guests are encouraged to arrive early in order to have time to browse through the items. As in previous years, organizers anticipate it will be standing room only. All purchases are payable by Visa, MasterCard, cash or cheque.
