Fleming College welcomes prospective students to explore the school at Open House

Published

On Saturday, April 14, Fleming College will open its doors to hundreds of prospective students at the Annual Spring Open House. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can tour the campus, residences and recreational facilities. They can also meet faculty and staff as well as students and alumni to find out specific details about post-secondary life.

Choosing the right post-secondary education is a big decision. For several current Fleming College students, that decision was finalized after attending the Open House event. “Every year we hear from students who decide to come to Fleming because of their experience at Open House,” said Fleming Liaison Manager Anya Rens. “Sometimes they hadn’t even considered Fleming to be their first choice, but at Open House they saw how passionate our faculty and staff are about student success.”

Urban Forestry student Kelly Mingram said Open House eased her mind of college concerns. “I attended Open House because I was still insecure about the choice I had made. It would be my first time moving out of my house,” said Mingram. “I went to Open House to get a better idea of what I was getting into, to benchmark the feel of the campus community and setting. After Open House, I knew I was making the right decision.”

Mingram said she enjoyed that Open House gave her a well-rounded understanding of the school. “The fact that I could speak to students, faculty, watch demonstrations—it was like a whole campus experience,” said Mingram.

On April 14, guests are welcome to visit each of Fleming College’s beautiful campuses, which are located in Peterborough, Lindsay, Haliburton and Cobourg. More than 100 full-time academic programs and continuing education options will be on display, and visitors are welcome to participate in applied learning activities and demonstrations.

To register for Open House, visit www.flemingcollege.com/openhouse or call 1-866-FLEMING (353-6464). By registering and attending Open House, visitors will automatically be entered in a draw to win a new iPad. And, when pre-registering online, prospective students can also sign up for free transportation from Toronto or Oshawa. Fleming will be transporting prospective students by bus to either the Peterborough or Lindsay campuses, and bus registrations will be accepted until 5 p.m. on April 13.
