Fleming College Presents the 2023 Multicultural Showcase

Peterborough, ON (November 14, 2023) – The sights, sounds and tastes of cultures from around the world will fill Fleming College’s Sutherland Campus during the 2023 Multicultural Showcase, taking place November 16 and 17.

Hosted by Fleming’s International Student Services, this two-day event is a chance for Fleming to showcase the traditions and heritage of its diverse community, with an incredible range of cultures to learn about.

International Bites is returning to the Showcase this year. Culinary students will be preparing and serving dishes from around the world from 12 – 1 p.m.

Students Edward Louis Capili and Bethel Anne will be demonstrating their dishes created for the Cooks the Books culinary competition. Edward will be making Lengua in a mushroom cream sauce served on turmeric-scented Jasmine rice. Bethel will be recreating her Braised oxtail and pickled papaya spring roll with siracha aioli dish.

The event also features daily activities including arts and crafts from India and China, an opportunity to learn about Indigenous medicines like Tobacco, Sage, Cedar, Sweetgrass, and play Ghanaian games and learn about Rangoli art.

The showcase is free to attend, accessible and suitable for all ages. Events run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Main Foyer each day. Free parking is available in the Aspen or Oak parking lots.
