Fleming College Set to Unveil New Mascot Name

Published

Peterborough, ON (November 15, 2023) – The votes are in, the polls are closed, and the Fleming College community has spoken. A new name has been chosen for Fleming’s new mascot!

The winning name will be revealed Friday, November 17 at 6 p.m., just before the Fleming Phoenix take on La Cite at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre. Everyone is welcome to attend the celebration. The women play at 6 p.m., and the men play at 8 p.m. The first 100 fans will receive a free set of Phoenix Cheerstix!

The name was chosen following two rounds of voting. The first round invited Fleming students, staff and community members to suggest their name for the Phoenix. The top four suggestions were compiled during the second round, and once again the Fleming community was asked to vote for their favourite name.

Fleming College wishes to thank everyone who participated in our naming contest.

Media wishing to attend Friday’s celebration can contact Communications Officer Sarah Deeth at sarah.deeth@flemingcollege.ca.
