KTTC Fundraising Campaign Touchdown

Published

Peterborough ON – (June 25, 2014) – Volunteers and staff gathered on the Steele Centre patio at Fleming College to celebrate the conclusion of the Building Skills, Shaping Futures Campaign, which raised $1,823,603 in support of infrastructure, capital equipment and student financial assistance.

Co-chairs Craig McFarlane and Jay Amer announced the campaign’s achievements in three parts. The amount of $1,191,942 was raised in cash and pledges to support capital equipment and infrastructure. The campaign also received generous in-kind gifts from a number of donors (including a six-figure gift to be honoured at a later date) that significantly boosted the fundraising total. The in-kind gifts to the campaign totalled $320,780.

In February, the campaign changed focus to support student financial assistance. The result of cash and pledges in both flow-through and endowed bursaries as well as scholarships was $310,881!

Volunteers were recognized and thanked by a variety of speakers including Carpentry Practices student Emma Bauman.

“There are many things that make this new campus exciting for a student such as myself – the building, the tools, the equipment and being taught by the great teachers I have had the pleasure of meeting this year,” said Emma. “However, without the help of you, the volunteers that helped to raise money, this wouldn’t be possible. For all of your hard work and dedication, I would like to thank you for making this an amazing place to receive such a high level of education and hands-on training experience.”
