MEDIA RELEASE FROM HUNTINGTON SOCIETY OF CANADA:

The score ONE for the TEAM committee is pleased to announce the eighth annual score ONE for the TEAM 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, sponsored by Nortrax and ServiceMASTER!

This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre. A total of 24 teams will be participating in either competitive or recreation divisions. Each team is guaranteed five games and one playoff game.

All proceeds from this tournament are donated to the Huntington Society of Canada for research into a cure. Since 2009, this charity event has raised over $38,500.

The tournament will also feature a BBQ and a raffle for amazing prizes including a stand-up paddle board. There are also trophies for the winning teams.

The annual score ONE for the TEAM, 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, sponsored by Nortrax and ServiceMASTER, is an official Huntington Society of Canada event. Since its inception in 2009, the tournament has been organized with the support of Fleming College Police Foundation students. These students build on leadership, organizational and communication skills, which are essential for a career in policing. By volunteering, Police Foundation students also demonstrate a sense of community and willingness to help others.

Constable Jodi Landriault of the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service was on the tournament’s organizing committee in 2009 and continues to volunteer. Const. Landriault says that the tournament is, “a great way for students to get involved in their community and support an amazing cause. Not only are we raising money, but awareness. ”
