Fleming Phoenix Student Athlete Receives Provincial Recognition

Published

Peterborough, ON (October 30, 2023) – A member of the Fleming Phoenix Women’s Rugby Sevens team has received provincial recognition for her athletic achievements this season.

Hollie Phillips was one of 15 student athletes from across the province recognized as a League All-Star by the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). The announcement was made on October 26, 2023.

Phillips, a second-year student in the Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training program at Sutherland Campus, and a native of Shannonville, Ontario, was a prop on the Phoenix varsity women’s rugby sevens team.

During the team’s season, Phillips scored four tries and one convert to garner a total of 22 points for the team.

This is a well-deserved recognition for Phillips who was a leader, both on and off the field this year. Rugby is a sport that requires grit, determination, and hard work and Phillips exemplifies all those characteristics.
