Fleming Knights win gold at CCAA National Curling Championships

A first ever CCAA gold medal for Fleming Knights!

The Fleming Knights men’s curling team ended round robin play with five wins and two losses giving them a first place finish in round robin play and a berth to the Gold Medal Game held Saturday, March 28 at the CCAA National Curling Championships in Olds, Alberta.

Coming out of round robin, both tie-breakers were necessary just to determine matchups for the semi-final.

In the first tie-breaker, host Olds Broncos defeated Sault Cougars 6-3.

The second tie-breaker saw Fanshawe Falcons move on, edging Olds 5-4.

Fanshawe defeated defending CCAA champions MacEwan Griffins 11-8 to move on to the gold medal game.

The Griffins bronze medal was their third straight CCAA medal. (2014 gold, 2013 silver)

Fleming Knights put in an spectacular finish to the season beat Fanshawe Falcons 8 to 4 in nine ends of play.
