Fleming College to host tourism and hospitality expo

Peterborough, ON (Oct. 28, 2016) – High school students will have the opportunity explore careers in the tourism and hospitality industry at Fleming College next week.

Fleming is partnering with Regional Tourism Organization 8 (RTO8) to host the Explore Tourism and Hospitality Career Expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Sutherland Campus. The event, now in its second year, is aimed at high school students, guidance counsellors and college students.

The day will start at 10 a.m. with an address from keynote speaker Tiffenni Wilkenson from the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation.

Students will also have the opportunity to:

  • Attend a session on adventure experiential tourism by Bretton Clark from The Land Canadian Adventures (interactive session featuring Aboriginal games and wild eatables)
  • Take a campus tour
  • Have lunch prepared by Fleming Culinary students at Fulford’s Restaurant
  • Visit the Expo, which highlights careers in the industry

The expo will feature employers such as AON, Ontario Waterway Cruises, Air Canada Vacations, Travel Plus, South Pond Farms, Expedia Cruise Centre, Treetop Trekking, and St. Anne’s Spa.
