Early Childhood Education students launch the 2017 Interactive Learning with Children and Families program

Published

Peterborough ON – (Sept. 13, 2017) – Early Childhood Education (ECE) students from Fleming College are welcoming families to the 2017 Interactive Learning with Children and Families program.

The program is intended for families with children 8 months to six years old along with their parents/caregivers. Each week the children will play in a creatively designed space that connects with nature, is child-centred, and builds on children’s curiosity. While children are engaged in play-based learning, families enjoy an interactive workshop.

The ECE students, in their third semester, are responsible for all aspects of the program and are supervised by two ECE faculty members. Students will observe, plan experiences, and document each child’s weekly learning. Parents will be provided with a portfolio to share in each child’s learning journey via StoryPark.com.

The program runs Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings between Oct. 3 and Dec. 7, 2017. Families attend one morning a week from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.

The cost is $60 per child for the full eight weeks and the program takes place at George Street United Church/Emmanuel United Church, 534 George St. N. in Peterborough.
