Made possible with a Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation

WHAT: Showcase the top five student projects in the Community Leadership Project.

WHO: Fleming students from Frost Campus will give presentations; Trent students currently conducting Community-Based Education projects in the City of Kawartha Lakes will talk about their research.

WHERE: Glenn Crombie Theatre (Room 250), Frost Campus, Fleming College, 200 Albert Street South, Lindsay.

WHEN: Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Community Leadership Project explores the links between community and the environment. Working in teams, students chose a non-profit organization in the City of Kawartha Lakes area and an issue or project the agency is involved with. The projects support increased student understanding about the role community organizations play in relation to caring for and contributing to a healthy environment, whether it’s the cultural, natural, health or social environment. The best student presentation of the night will be awarded a $750 grant that will go to their chosen organization to help fund the issue or project the students researched.

C-Links was founded in 2011 and facilitates community-academic relationships through community-based education and community service-learning. Its goal is to engage students, faculty and the community in educational experiences which develop collaboration, innovation and empowerment for all involved.

Through C-Links, local City of Kawartha Lakes businesses, not-for-profits, charities and municipal government will improve their ability to address relevant community-identified concerns through student research and other kinds of projects. C-Links was made possible through the generous funding of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario.
