Aspiring entrepreneurs invited to submit innovative business ideas to Pitch It!

Thursday, September 7, 2017, Peterborough – FastStart invites students at Trent University, Durham College, Fleming College and University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) to submit their innovative business ideas for the third annual Pitch It! competition, a competition for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Running for four weeks, Pitch It! culminates on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 6-9 p.m. in a Dragons’ Den-style pitch competition at Fleming College’s Sutherland Campus to a panel of industry judges. This is an opportunity for students to win $500, meet other aspiring entrepreneurs, and find help in bringing their innovative idea to the market.

The event will showcase three to five contestants pitching their idea from the following business categories: agriculture and food, information technology and media, clean tech and the environment, trades and retail business, and lifestyle and fashion.

“This event is a great opportunity for young and aspiring entrepreneurs to push themselves into pitching a business idea and getting feedback from real professionals,” says Karen Zavitz, FastStart Lead. “It is important for students to have events like this to not only showcase their great business ideas, but also practice putting those ideas into action.”

Applications will close on September 22 at noon and the final Pitch It! competition is open to the public. For more information about Pitch It! or to download a submission form, visit faststartfs.ca/pitch-it-2017
