Sharing the Caring at the 2007 Family Gala

The Early Childhood Education and Social Service Worker programs at Fleming College’s Frost Campus are once again hosting a Family Gala for the community on Saturday, October 20. Partnering with community agencies such as the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit, the Association for Community Living, Kawartha Child Care Services, the Early Years Centre, and the Children’s Aid Society, the students will work with the agencies to host fun family activities at the same time as providing information on resources and services available for children and their families in the community. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Frost Campus, 200 Albert St. S. in Lindsay. Activities include face painting, games, crafts, and indoor play as well as science exhibits and visits from the characters Franklin, Clifford and Elliot the Moose.  The schedule for the day includes: 9:15 a.m. – Marnie’s Dance ‘N Kids dance demonstration 9:45 to 11 a.m. – Musical performance by Terri and Rick 11 to 12:30 p.m. – free lunch Participants may also want to pick up some gently used children’s toys, books, and clothing at the event’s swap meet give away. Organizers are also accepting these items from donors. You can drop off donations of these items to Community Living Kawartha Lakes, 33 Lindsay St. S. by October 12.
