Original work by Robert Bateman to be featured in fundraising art auction

Published

Haliburton, ON (July 20, 2016) – Fleming College’s Haliburton Campus will host the annual Haliburton School of Art + Design (HSAD) Faculty Art Auction on Thursday, Aug. 11.

The event will feature many unique works of art up for bidding in both live and silent auctions. All art has been created and generously donated by artists who are, or have been, faculty members at HSAD. In the past, artists such as John Leonard, Rod Prouse, Rob Stimpson, Chuck O’Neil, Susan Watson-Ellis, Bruce Lepper and Wayne Hill have donated pieces for the auction.

This year a special item will be up for bidding. During his three-day summer workshop at the campus, renowned artist Robert Bateman will create a demonstration painting. The work will be available for purchase at the event, with Bateman then putting the final touches on the original piece following the auction. Bateman fans will not want to miss the opportunity to own this unique piece of artwork created at HSAD.

All net proceeds from the event support art students at the Haliburton Campus through the scholarship and bursary program at Fleming College.

The event begins at 5 p.m. with a preview of the auction items. The live auction takes place at 7 p.m. A number of silent auction items will also be available to bid on until 7 p.m. The campus is located at 297 College Drive in Haliburton.

Admission is free and the auction is open to the public. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to browse through the items and find a seat at the auction. As in previous years, organizers anticipate it will be standing room only. All auction purchases are payable by Visa, MasterCard, cash or cheque.
