Published

Guidance counsellors and student success teachers from secondary schools across Eastern Ontario will descend on Fleming College on Wednesday, May 21 for the Eastern Region College Dialogue. The event, hosted at Fleming’s Sutherland Campus on Brealey Drive, is an opportunity for secondary school educators to hear updates on what is happening at Ontario’s colleges – whether it’s new programs, admissions updates, or new facilities.Visitors will attend information sessions held throughout the day and interact with college representatives. Close to 100 participants are expected with 24 colleges represented. The day begins at 9 a.m. with a welcome address from Fleming College President Dr. Tony Tilly. Participants will then head into break-out sessions for the balance of the day. Throughout the day the guidance counsellors can network with various college representatives and faculty from Fleming College’s academic schools.“This is an excellent way to connect with guidance counsellors and provide them updates on what is happening right here at Fleming College as well as across Ontario’s college system,” said Brenda Liston-Hanley, Manager of Liaison. “This is all done in the spirit of collaboration with all colleges working cooperatively to advance the benefits of colleges within our secondary schools.”The College Dialogues first took place in 2004 and were modelled after a similar event held within the university system. They are run annually in four regions of Ontario.     – 30 -For more information: Laura Copeland, Communications Officer, 705-749-5530 x 1370 or copeland@flemingc.on.ca
