Students go “RED for Peterborough Fire Services”

A new, permanent exhibit at Clonsilla Fire Station #3 will have residents going RED when it opens on Saturday, April 13. Over the past seven months, Peterborough Fire Services have been working alongside Museum Management and Curatorship students at Fleming College to develop the exhibit. “RED: Ready, Experienced, Dedicated – Your Peterborough Fire Services.”

The exhibit will focus on the history of Peterborough Fire Services (PFS), as well as provide information on the wide range of programs and services provided by PFS. Artifacts, archival photographs and recorded interviews will show the diverse and constant presence of the fire service in the local community. The exhibit will appeal to both adults and children. Visitors can expect a fun atmosphere with interactive elements, which bring the rich history of Peterborough Fire Services to life.

Peterborough Mayor Daryl Bennett remarked, “The Peterborough Fire Services has a long and proud history of service to our community. I am delighted that the exhibit will serve as an important reminder of the remarkable heritage of our outstanding fire service traditions and accomplishments.”

For well over a century, Peterborough Fire Services has provided fire and emergency services while adapting to meet the changing needs of the community.

Deputy Mayor Dan McWilliams stated, “As the Chair of the City’s Fire Services Portfolio, I am pleased to see the Fire Services working in collaboration with Fleming College Museum Management students; I have no doubt that their combined efforts will be a great credit to the City.”
