Significant increase in applications at Haliburton Campus

The Haliburton Campus, home to the Haliburton School of The Arts, has seen a significant increase in applications to full-time programs as well as strong registration for its popular summer courses.Applications to full-time programs are up 7.8 per cent. Some programs such as the new Visual and Creative Arts Diploma program have seen applications double over last year. Applications have also increased considerably for the Fibre Arts program (formerly Textile Surface Design).“We’re very excited about this trend. We’re getting the message out there as we continue to work with various arts communities and secondary schools specializing in Arts programming across the province. We’re expanding our relationships with colleges and universities and expanding the options available for students through articulation agreements and exchanges,” says Sandra Dupret, Haliburton Campus Principal. “With the support of our community the reputation of Haliburton as a vibrant and innovative community for artists continues to grow.”The Haliburton School of The Arts offers full-time arts certificate programs in, Artist Blacksmith, Ceramics, Glassblowing, Sculpture, Visual Arts Fundamentals – Drawing and Painting, Photo Arts, and Jewellery Essentials.Registration for week-long and weekend summer courses began March 1. Hundreds of courses cover all areas of the arts including Creative Writing, Photography, Scottish Country Dancing, Watercolour Painting, and Quilting. The whole family can participate with courses for children and youth including Pottery, Cartoons, Characters & Chaos, Journey through African Sound, and Wizardry.
