About the Stewardship Youth Rangers
The Stewardship Youth Ranger Program at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is a day-based, eight-week summer program that offers youth the opportunity to work outdoors on natural resource management project teams in their own communities. Projects include creating habitat for species at risk, monitoring the health of forests, rehabilitating wetlands and assisting with community stewardship and cultural events. Through this program, youth obtain meaningful work experience, develop practical, personal and professional skills, and gain a deeper appreciation of their role in the stewardship of Ontario’s natural resources. Each team consists of one team lead and four rangers. Rangers may also have an opportunity to obtain two high school co-op credits during the summer. There are 45 Stewardship Youth Ranger teams across Ontario in 2014.
