Fleming College to welcome hundreds of visitors to Open House

Close to 1,000 prospective students, their family and friends are expected to visit Fleming College for its spring Open House on Saturday, April 6.

Open House is an opportunity for visitors to tour the Sutherland Campus and residences and take in program demonstrations in areas such as Massage Therapy, Pre-Service Firefighter, Police Foundations, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Chef Training/Culinary Management. The college will also host information sessions throughout the day on financial aid, scholarships and bursaries, housing, and student life. A special session for parents has also been scheduled.

The McRae Campus, home to most of Fleming’s skilled trades/apprenticeship programs, will also host tours and feature program demonstrations. Guests can meet with students and staff and learn more about: Carpentry; Construction Skills; Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning; Plumbing Techniques; or Welding Techniques.

Open House at Frost Campus in Lindsay is an opportunity for visitors to tour the campus and residences and take in program demonstrations in areas such as: Arboriculture; Blasting Techniques and Resources Drilling and Blasting; Outdoor Adventure Skills; Heavy Equipment Techniques; and Varsity Loggersports. Information sessions on financial aid, scholarships and bursaries, housing, and student life are also scheduled.

At the Haliburton Campus, guests can see students at work in the campus studios doing live art demonstrations. Visitors to the campus will also have a chance to discover the village of Haliburton, take a walk on the Haliburton Sculpture Forest trail or explore options for accommodations. Information on student life and financial aid (scholarships and bursaries) will be provided.

The Cobourg Campus will provide an opportunity for prospective students to speak with students and staff and learn more about campus programs including the Esthetician program, Academic Upgrading, Continuing Education, and the new Food Service Worker program. Staff at the campus will also offer information on financial aid and housing.

Open House events are taking place on April 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at all of Fleming’s campus locations in Peterborough,
Lindsay, Haliburton and Cobourg. A free bus service is available from Oshawa to the Peterborough or Lindsay campuses. Buses will leave from the Oshawa Centre (419 King St. W., east of the Oshawa Transit Loop) at 9 a.m. and will return around 3:15 p.m.
