Fleming College to join Amnesty International Write-a-thon

Published

The Fleming College community is joining with the local Amnesty International group to host a Global Write-a-thon on International Human Rights Day.

On Friday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., students, staff and the general public are encouraged to come out to the main foyer of the Sutherland Campus, 599 Brealey Dr., and write letters to promote human rights. Participation is free and open to everyone.

They will be joining people from 30 countries who will host their own events.

The Amnesty International Write-a-thon is spreading, catching the spirit of people everywhere. Last year Fleming hosted a write-a-thon as did thousands of Canadians who wrote more than 36,000 letters at nearly 1,000 events in schools, community centres, faith institutions, cafes and living rooms.

Fleming’s Write-a-thon is being co-sponsored by the Fleming Diversity Office and Amnesty International Group 46.
