Published

Fleming College’s Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment (CAWT) will take part in the 2013 Ontario Business Mission to China next week.

Fleming is the only college to participate in the provincial trade mission. The CAWT’s renowned water and wastewater expertise provides an excellent opportunity for the Centre to export its knowledge on an international level.

“Fleming College is working with over 50 Ontario water sector companies. These businesses represent some of the best technologies and services found anywhere. China’s economic growth and fast-paced development has created a need for exceptional services and solutions that these companies can provide. We’re excited about the opportunities to showcase Ontario business,” said Brent Wootton, Director and Senior Scientist, CAWT.

Wootton will also visit colleges and vocational institutes while on the trip to build awareness of Fleming College and explore opportunities for Chinese students to study at Fleming.

Premier Dalton McGuinty will lead the mission of Ontario companies and institutions on the trip Jan. 13-18. The tour is expected to showcase Ontario’s proficiency in clean technology and agri-food product innovation. It is hope the mission will lead to increased trade and new investment and jobs for Ontario.

Located in the heart of Central Ontario, Fleming College has campus locations in Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg and Haliburton. Named for famous Canadian inventor and engineer Sir Sandford Fleming, the college features more than 90 full-time programs in Community Development and Health, Continuing Education, Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Justice and Business, Skilled Trades and Technology, General Arts and Science, and Visual Arts. Fleming College has 5,900 full-time and 10,000 part-time students, and more than 63,000 alumni.
