Women in Trees
You're invited to our "Women in Trees Conference and Awareness Day"
This is a FREE event to showcase the many roles and opportunities for women in arboriculture, urban forestry, and forestry. Participants will have the option to take part in two workshops during the day.
Workshops:
Urban Wood Salvage (FULL)
Create your own cheese board! Learn how urban wood - lost to disease, construction, insects or weather - can be salvaged and given new life. Participants will have the opportunity to operate the College's sawmill.
Neature! Tree ID Walk
Tour the new Fleming College Arboretum and get first-hand tips and tricks on how to identify the trees you see.
Beyond The Bark: Trees And Technology
Want to know what your trees are worth? Learn how trees increase property value, improve mental health, fight climate change and more.
Chainsaws: Sharpen Your Skills
Learn to operate a chainsaw as well as techniques for proper maintenance. At the end of the day you will get to leave with a little piece of Fleming!
Out On A Limb
Come out for a climb! Raise your confidence levels, step outside your comfort zone and explore the many career pathways working with trees.
Please note: there are limited spots available in the workshops. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participants are asked to wear closed toe shoes to the event. Please bring hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses. If you do not have these items, they will be provided. This event will take place rain or shine so participants are advised to dress accordingly.
