From encouraging cycling to banning bottled water, Fleming College has a history of great sustainability initiatives!

2016 - Awarded STARS Silver Report

2016 - Flemng achieved energy and greenhouse gas reduction targets

2015 - Academic plan committed that all diploma programs would contain the learning outcome

2014 - Opened Community Garden at Sutherland Campus residences.

2014 - Fleming launches Office of Sustainability webpage.

2013 - Winner of Shifting Gears Workplace Transportation Challenge.

2013 - Fleming completes first corporate Sustainability Plan - Moving from Commitment to Results.

2012 - First Annual Fleming World Water Day

2011 - Fleming becomes first college in Canada to ban the sale of bottled water

2010 - New Sustainable Agriculture program offered.

2008 - Community garden established on Frost Campus.

2008 - Sustainable technology purchasing policy instituted.

2007 - Green Roof planted on Frost Campus' Environmental Technology wing.

2007 - Partnership agreement completed with Muskies Canada Inc and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources to restore the muskie population of Lake Simcoe.

2006 - Frost Initiative student sustainability group formed at Frost Campus.

2005 - New Sustainable Design & Construction launched - Haliburton Campus.

2004 - Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment begins researching alternative forms of water and wastewater treatment.

2017 - Partner in the launch of the united nations recognized regional centre of expertise in sustainability

2016 - Selected as the only canadian centre for sustainability across the curriculum

2015 - Developed a college wide sustainability learning outcome

2015 - Fleming featured in the international sustainability journal of record

2014 - Completed Fleming's first annual Sustainability Report.

2014 - Launched annual Office of Sustainability Applied Projects Funding Program.

2013 - Launched Office of Sustainability Academic Task Force.

2013 - Fleming Office of Sustainability opens its doors.

2013 - Fleming achieves Bronze rating in AASHE's Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating (STARS) program.

2011 - Bike Loan Program launched - Frost Campus

2010 - "Leading In Sustainability" becomes a strategic priority in Fleming's Strategic Plan.

2010 - New Sustainable Trails certificate offered.

2008 - First annual Frost Campus EcoHealth Conference.

2008 - Ecological Restoration Joint (with Trent University) BSc Degree offered.

2008 - Water bottle refill stations installed - Frost and Sutherland campuses.

2007 - Partnership agreement completed with Muskies Canada Inc and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources to restore the muskie population of Lake Simcoe.

2006 - Atlantic Salmon Restoration Project launched.

2006 - Fleming switches to 100% recycled content paper for printers and photocopiers.

2004 - Frost Campus' Environmental Technology wing acclaimed as "one of the most energy efficient buildings in Canada".

2003 - Frost campus installs wind turbine.
