Program Highlights
Do you dream of traveling the world? Are you looking at beginning a career in one of the world’s fastest growing industries? The tourism sector in Canada is currently a $90 billion industry employing almost 1.8 million people (Source: Tourism HR Canada). If you are a people person and have a passion for discovering what the world has to offer, this program is for you.
The Tourism-Global Travel program combines practical hands-on experiences with class lectures. Students learn the key elements of the travel business through courses such as: Discovering Destinations, Customer Service Management, Tour Operations, Tourism Trends, Marketing, Travel Reservations, Digital Media, Adventure & Ecotourism and Hospitality Sales & Service, plus electives in business and general education courses. You will have the opportunity to meet industry leaders through events, program field trips and guest lecturers. You can also join other School of Business and Information Technology students on an international learning experience to get a first-hand look at various tourism destinations. The 200 hour field placement provides practical knowledge, career opportunities and connections in the industry.
The program provides the leadership and practical skills needed to work for tour operators, destination marketing organizations, travel agencies, cruise lines, hotels, resorts, or tourism and travel service providers. Complete a second business or hospitality diploma in one year, or continue your formal education with our partner universities in Canada, Australia, Ireland or Scotland.
* Students starting in January are required to attend classes over the summer semester.

What Graduates Say
"My experience at Fleming College was great! The instructors in the Tourism - Global Travel program have a love of the industry and want to see their students thrive. Since graduating in 2017, I have worked at a transportation company, a local resort, and am now a travel consultant at Flight Centre. The knowledge and skills I gained in the Tourism program have been useful in each position. Each course plays a part in setting students up for success in their chosen career path. Thanks for everything!"
Meghan White,
2017 Program Graduate
"My time at Fleming College allowed me to truly feel confident and more comfortable in myself. The hands-on experience gained through multiple projects allowed me to grow into the leader I am today. A year after graduating, I moved to British Columbia and started working at Copper Point Resort. I started as a Guest Services Agent at the front desk, within six months I was the supervisor and within another six months I became the Assistant Front Office Manager, which is where I am at today. Without my experience at Fleming, I would have never come out of my shell and be where I am today. Thanks Fleming!"
Emily Carver,
2016 Program Graduate
"Deciding to take the Tourism and Travel program at Fleming College was the best decision I could have made toward my professional future. Its well-rounded course load provided me with the skills to enter into any area of the Hospitality and Tourism industry that interested me. I was surprised at the number and variety of jobs that this program prepared me for. The placement that I completed for the program led to a summer job and now permanent full-time employment in a position that I love with a Destination Marketing Organization."
Emily Clarey,
2014 Program Graduate
"The Tourism and Travel Fast Track program provided me with exceptional hands-on experience to compliment my university degree. The program opened my eyes to the vast opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality field and ultimately landed me the career of my dreams with a destination marketing organization."
Jaimie Judge,
2013 Program Graduate
