Fleming College hosts successful bootcamps amidst COVID-19 pandemic
Peterborough ON – (October 8, 2020) – Students in targeted Fleming College programs are busy completing their learning outcomes on campus, after being disrupted in Winter and Spring semesters by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bootcamps program is part of the provincial government’s Postsecondary Education Health Measures Framework for Reopening. It began July 13, 2020 on campus and, with strict health and safety protocols in place, zero cases of COVID-19 have been reported.
Bootcamps ranged from two hours to three weeks in length, depending on the program and learning outcomes. Graduating students participated in bootcamps to complete their program, while returning students took part in flow-through bootcamps to complete learning outcomes that were disrupted by the pandemic.
In total, 231 graduating students were invited to participate in bootcamps held between July 13 to Sept. 4, 2020 at Fleming’s Sutherland Campus (Peterborough). These bootcamps were offered for the following Fleming programs: Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician, Personal Support Worker, Practical Nursing, Welding Fabrication Technician, and Welding Techniques.
Flow-through bootcamps are offered to more than 900 students from August 4 to Dec. 17, 2020. These bootcamps are being held at the Sutherland Campus and Frost Campus (Lindsay, Ont.) for the following programs:
