Published

Peterborough, ON (Oct. 5, 2016) – Graduates of Fleming College’s Business Administration – Accounting program have a new pathway to a business degree with a specialization in accounting at Trent University

Fleming College and Trent University have signed a newly-revised pathway agreement that now includes the degree specialization component. The diploma-to-degree agreement allows eligible graduates of the Business Administration – Accounting program to enter the third year of Trent’s Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting degree program. The pathway provides an opportunity for students to seamlessly complete a diploma and a degree in five years.

Business Administration – Accounting is a three-year advanced diploma program within Fleming’s School of Business. A foundational aspect of the program is a focus on experiential learning. Students have the opportunity to complete a full-time, four-month field placement at the end of the program, providing them with extensive, real-world knowledge.

“The hands-on experience our students receive in this program positions them well to continue their studies at Trent University. Their practical knowledge combined with the degree specialization will allow students to expand their skill set and excel in their field,” said Maxine Mann, Dean of the School of Business and the School of Trades and Technology.

“This program is designed to help facilitate the learning pathway that accounting students have started at Fleming, and builds upon a long-standing relationship between the two institutions,” said Dr. Kirk Collins, director of the School of Business at Trent University. “While at Trent, students will continue to amass the requisite knowledge that will allow them to be successful in the pursuit of their CPA, or whichever path they so choose in the accounting field.”

Accounting is one of the many specializations offered through the Trent University Business Administration program. Students have the ability to combine Finance, Accounting, Management, Entrepreneurship, HR, Information Systems and E-Commerce with just about any other subject – arts or science.
