Students in Fleming’s Electrical Power Generation Technician program will gain valuable hands-on experience working with a brand new piece of equipment thanks to a donation from Canadian company Wajax.

The Centre for Heavy Equipment Technology at the Frost Campus of Fleming College received a new 30 kilowatt propane generator this week. Wajax representatives Jerry Curtis (Toronto Branch), Bill Fields (Toronto Truck Branch) and Rick Schmit (Calgary Power Systems Branch) were at the Centre on Monday, Oct. 28 to make the donation. They also presented an information session on the company and its many upcoming job opportunities to students in the Heavy Equipment Techniques program.

“The Heavy Equipment Techniques and Electrical Power Generation programs greatly appreciate the support of Wajax to enhance the student experience here, and after graduation,” said Scott Heard, faculty member with the Centre for Heavy Equipment Technology.

Wajax is a large coast-to-cost Canadian company that is a dealer, distributor and manufacturer of heavy equipment, industrial engines and transmissions, diesel and alternative fuel electrical generation equipment.
