Building Futures – #TeamFleming at Skills Ontario 2025

Published

Each year, Skills Ontario brings together the best and brightest secondary and post-secondary students from across the province to showcase their talents in trades and technology. This year, from May 5 to 7, the Toronto Congress Centre will come alive with innovation, energy, and inspiration as students compete and #TeamFleming will be right at the centre of it!

What is Skills Ontario?

Skills Ontario is the province’s leading organization dedicated to promoting careers in trades and tech to youth. Their flagship event, the Skills Ontario Competition (Skills), is Canada’s largest skilled trades and tech competition, drawing thousands of students, educators, and industry leaders.

The event includes:

  • Competitions in over 70 skilled trade and technology events
  • Career exploration showcases with interactive exhibits and live demonstrations
  • Networking opportunities with employers, educators, and mentors

Skills is an immersive event that empowers young people to explore rewarding and in-demand career pathways.

We’re #FlemingProud to be participating in Skills Ontario 2025 with a strong team of student competitors representing a range of skilled disciplines. These students have been preparing for months with the support of dedicated staff mentors, and they are ready to showcase their skills and compete on the provincial stage.

Events our students are participating in include:

  • Aesthetics
  • Arboriculture
  • Carpentry – Individual
  • Cybersecurity
  • Hairstyling
  • Heating Systems
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Plumbing
  • Restaurant Services
  • Welding

In addition to competing, Fleming staff members and students will be involved as judges, mentors, and booth ambassadors offering guidance and support to prospective students who are interested in pursuing skilled trades.

At Fleming, we’re committed to hands-on learning, applied research, and workforce development in the trades and tech area. Whether it’s through co-op placements, applied projects, or industry-certified training, Fleming students graduate with the practical skills and confidence needed to succeed. Many Fleming competitors from past Skills events have gone on to win medals, launch successful careers, and become leaders in their fields.
