COVID-19 screening and resources offered through Fleming Safe mobile app

Published

Peterborough ON – (September 22, 2020) – Fleming College campuses remain closed with limited access to small groups of students, faculty and staff attending bootcamps. To ensure the health and safety of those permitted on campus, Fleming College is pleased to add COVID-19 screening and resources to the Fleming Safe mobile app for students and employees.

Health and safety remain the College’s top priority amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and Fleming College is following the Fleming Safe Plan to safely maintain teaching and learning. This includes delivering the Fall 2020 semester through online and alternate delivery as Fleming campuses remain closed.

The COVID-19 screening feature offers the ability to complete a daily COVID-19 self-assessment and have results shared instantly with Fleming’s security desk to expedite building entry. A Fleming College email is required for submission and results are pass or fail, followed by instructions on next steps.

COVID-19 resources include prevention tips, working from home recommendations, and links to College webpages for information.

The Fleming Safe app is a partnership with AppArmor that launched in 2017. In addition to COVID-19 resources and screening, the mobile safety app also features:

  • Campus emergency phone contacts.
  • Information about Security and support services related to safety.
  • Emergency procedures.
  • Alerts and notifications about emergencies and weather-related closures.
  • The ability to report an incident tip through an in-app email or anonymous voicemail.
  • The Friend Walk feature, which allows a friend to monitor your walk home with an emergency button and your location.

The Fleming Safe app is available through Google Play and the Apple Store.
