Published

Peterborough ON – (August 28, 2020)  Fleming College is launching a new online resource to support students beginning their college experience in this online and alternate delivery environment.

The Fleming Fall 2020 Launch Plan features important information for new and returning students, “Set Up For Success” workshops, and Virtual Orientation Events. The Fleming Fall 2020 Launch Plan aims to support students during their college transition and ensure the online and alternate delivery environment is memorable and successful for them.

“We want to ensure students feel completely supported throughout their studies at Fleming College by providing them with the resources and services they need to be successful and most importantly, safe,” said Fleming College President Maureen Adamson. “Although this Fall semester is certainly unique, we are proud to welcome new students to Fleming College and look forward to meeting them in our new virtual learning spaces.”

Before classes begin, students have an opportunity to prepare through an online workshop series hosted by Fleming’s Tutoring & Academic Skills Centre, Library, and Student Experience. Topics in the online “Set Up for Success” workshop series include Skills and Strategies, Technology, Academic Supports, Diversity and Inclusion, and Student Life 101. Students may attend any or all workshops in the series from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4, 2020.

During Orientation (Sept. 8 through 11), students will be able to drop in to WebEx rooms to chat with any of Fleming’s Service Areas including: Library, Housing and Food, Academic Supports, Career Services, Indigenous Student Services, International Student Services, Rights and Responsibilities, Campus Store, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Financial Aid, Health Services, Student Administration Council, Learning Support Services, Counselling, Accessible Education and Safety and Security. An “Ask Me Anything” WebEx meeting room will also be available Sept. 8 through 18 for students to drop in and receive support and answers.

As per the Fleming Safe Plan, the Fall 2020 semester begins Sept. 8, 2020 through online and alternate delivery. Program delivery is subject to change based on government and public health requirements. The safety of our students is our priority. The status for all Fleming programs is available here.
