In-Person Sin Number Drop-In Clinic

Friday, May 3rd, 2024

Social Services Canada will be at the Sutherland Campus on Friday, May 3 on a first-come-first-serve basis in the International Student Services office, C2100. Please note this service is only for Fleming students. Family members should go to Services Canada’s office located at 219 George Street North, Peterborough.

In-Person International Student Networking Day

Thursday, May 2nd, 2024

Take this day to meet fellow students and community partners. The day will be packed with fun activities that will help you connect with others, network and know where to go and who to contact for help. Take pictures and win prizes for participating.

Academic Supports & Success Coaches

9:30 – 10:30 am

Navigate services and supports available to you, learn what to do when you need academic help, and where to find learning resources. Explore various academic supports and services we provide.

Tips And Resources On Finding Part-Time Job

10:45 – 11:45 am

Learn about the services Career Services offers, including helping students with job searches, job applications, connect and search for employment and volunteer opportunities, as well as help with part-time employment.

Apply For A Sin Number

12:00 – 1:00 pm

Apply once and faster for a SIN number by joining this virtual session with a Service Canada representative.

Tips And Resources On Finding A Place To Live

9:00 – 10:00 am

Are you moving to Peterborough or Lindsay? Learn your rights as a tenant and how to search for your new living space virtually.

Meet Your Peer Mentor (All Schools)

10:30 – 11:00 am

A peer mentor is an upper-semester who supports new students transition to Fleming. Meet your peer mentor, ask questions, learn how to get involved on campus, transition to life and academics, access campus resources, have fun, and much more.

Student Panel

11:15 – 12:15 pm

Learn from current students about their journey, tips on how to be successful, lessons learned and ask questions about their experience at Fleming.

Immigration 101

8:00 – 9:30 am

What is a “Study Permit” or “Co-op Work Permit”? Meet the Fleming Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor & learn about your immigration rights & responsibilities in Canada.

What Is Academic Integrity?

9:45- 10:45 am

Canadian academic integrity rules may be different from those in your previous school experience. In this important interactive session, you will learn how to apply Fleming’s Academic Integrity Policy to your school work and learn how the Academic Integrity policy may impact your success at Fleming and your temporary residency status.

Classroom Expectations

11:00 – 12:00 pm

Learn about classroom expectations directly from one of Fleming’s faculty, how to effectively communicate with your professors, and start your classes on the right foot.

Day 4: Thursday, April 25, 2024

Inclusion And Respect On Campus

9:00 – 10:00 am

Learn about Student Experience Diversity & Inclusion Services, your human rights, safe spaces for students to celebrate and promote diversity, receive education, support and referrals on a wide variety of diversity issues.

Student Portal And D2L Tour

10:30 – 11:30 am

Learn to navigate on the Student Portal and find your classrooms, professors and resources. D2L is your learning platform, where your assignments will be posted and submitted. This quick tour will get you started and prepare you for the first day of classes.

Canadian Culture

9:00 – 10:00 am

Play this fun game, test your knowledge of Canadian Culture while learning how to better understand the people and the country you will be calling home.

Campus And Community Safety

10:15 – 11:15 am

If you are new to Canada, you should attend this session. You will feel a lot more secure and confident living in a new country if you know who to call in case of an emergency, what supports are available on campus, and how to protect yourself and your personal information against fraud and scams.
