Faculty: Warren Townsend

Warren Townsend first came to carving after visiting the Burdette Wildlife Art Gallery in 1983. Fascinated by exhibits of bird carvings, he signed up for a class offered by world champion carver Paul Burdette. He went on to take classes from Pat Godin, Larry Barth and Ernie Muehlmatt, all world champion carvers. Warren was very successful at shows in both the US and Canada and was soon competing at the open or advanced level. After carving professionally from 1986 to 1994, teaching many classes, and participating in the Toronto One of a Kind Show, he left the carving world for several years. Warren returned to carving in 2013 and has been very successful at both Canadian and US shows at the advanced level. Almost all of his earlier carvings are in private collections in Canada and the US.
