Sam Allison

Sam Allison aka Lotus Wight has established himself as one of the premier artists in the world of old-time and folk music. As a long-time founding member and producer of Sheesham, Lotus and Son, Sam toured Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom and the US playing banjo, singing and sharing his knowledge and home-made instruments with the world. His 2017 solo album, "Ode to the Banjo" garnered a nomination for the Canadian Folk Music Award for best folk album. As a producer Allison has worked with Jenny Whiteley to produce a number of recordings including her JUNO-nominated folk record, The Original Jenny Whiteley playing bass, banjo and jaw harps. Sam Allison also plays with one of Canada's busiest old-time exports. the Lonesome Ace Stringband with Chris Coole and John Showman. Allison now plays and sings with Hastings County fiddler and banjoist extraordinaire, Luke Mercier.
