Faculty: Jillian Bishop
Jillian Bishop is an urban seed saver. She enjoys encouraging more people to get involved in seed saving, by planting high profile Urban Seed Saving Gardens, giving talks and offering seed saving workshops, and working collectively to build a movement.
By running her own heirloom seed business, urbantomato, and organizing Peterborough’s Seedy Sunday for the past decade, she has been able to meet and work with other seed savers, and inspire many growers, gardeners, and citizens to get involved in the seed saving.
She is currently working as a Community Food Cultivator with the Nourish Project and as part of this role, works with local seed savers in growing the Peterborough Community Seed Library and Seed Savers Collective. She is very proud to be a part of the burgeoning seed saving movement, and strongly believes there is no food security without seed security.
