Pre-requisite: This course is suitable for beginner to advanced level weavers, but not those who have never woven before. Weaving - Basic Level I, or the ability to set up a loom and weave with reasonably minimal direction is required.
Dive into the amazing world of handwoven tea towels and bread cloths-works of art for the kitchen that are practical, beautiful and dry dishes like a charm! You will design and weave a warp for two to three tea towels/bread cloths, choosing from a range of design options from simple to complex. Floor looms will be provided. Whether you are a novice or experienced weaver, there is a wide range of avenues to explore. The effect of weave structure, sett and yarns on the dry-ability and feel of tea towels will be discussed. In the process you will be introduced to various weaves, many of which will be useful in other weaving applications. A variety of 2/8 cottons will be available for purchase. You are welcome to bring your own cotton, cotolin, or linen yarns to use. A four-harness floor loom will be available for each student. There will be a time during the week to share interesting weaving you've done - both successes and educational learning experiences are welcome!
