Haliburton School of Art + Design

Enrol in Watercolour on Canvas

Course Code: ARTS1734

This course is not suitable for absolute beginners. Basic knowledge of watercolour painting is required.
Explore techniques that are best suited for this surface and discover work enhancing mediums. Investigate drawing, composition, colour, and watercolour techniques such as negative space and glazing. Instruction will guide from surface preparation through to sealing and varnishing finished work. If you are a tight painter, this technique will loosen you up as you work in a positive environment. Working on various canvas sizes, from small to large, as well as unusual sizes, will be encouraged. The use of collage will be explored to enhance texture and dimension. Beyond the creative possibilities, this technique removes the need for heavy frames, matting and glass.
