Stone Sculpting & More (Youth to Adult)

Haliburton School of Art + Design

Enrol in Stone Sculpting & More (Youth to Adult)

Course Code: ARTS2377

u>Please note: This course is open to students 10 years of age to adult.
Using hand tools only, you will work with a piece of original volcanic rock from Zimbabwe to create a sculpture. Learn about the stone itself: its unique history and special place in the cultural landscape of Zimbabwe. Basic sculpting techniques, safety, and best practice will be demonstrated, contextualizing the use of each hand tool as you feel your way through the process of creating your sculptures. Sculpting is hard work - you'll recharge by learning songs on a set of six marimbas! Both adults and youth are welcome to join this course.

Some courses require additional textbooks and/or materials. Please visit your campus bookstore in-person or online: Peterborough Bookstore or Lindsay Bookstore.
